Thank you to Chosen Foods for sponsoring this post!  I was selected for this opportunity as a member of the Mambro Sprouts blogger program.  As always, the opinions expressed are my own.

I love classic dishes but sometimes I like to break from tradition and spice them up a little.  My Chicken Salad with a Twist is one of those dishes.  I created this dish when I was looking for something to jazz up my basic chicken salad recipe.  I loved it so much, that I actually put the recipe in my Natural Pregnancy Cookbook.  And no, of course you don’t have to be pregnant to enjoy this dish or any of the dishes in the book!  It actually has over 125 of my best nutritious and wholesome recipes for anyone trying to lead a healthy lifestyle.

I love using nuts in all forms in my recipes- whole, sliced, chopped, nut butter, you name it!  They are actually one of the most nutritious snacks you can eat and are packed with many beneficial nutrients including heart-healthy unsaturated fats, protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals.

Eating healthy this holiday season doesn’t mean that you have to deprive yourself!  California Raisins are a great way to add natural sweetness to your savory or sweet dishes while also adding a boost of nutrition.  They’re also a great choice for wholesome and healthy on-the-go snacking.   California Raisins are fat-free and cholesterol-free and they’re packed with several important nutrients.  One quarter cup serving supplies 9% of your daily fiber and potassium, and 6% of your daily iron.  Plus, they’re naturally sweet so when you incorporate them in your recipes, you can significantly cut down on the amount of additional sugar.

Welcome the arrival of fall with my Tuscan Kale and Apple Salad.  This dish uses Tuscan kale (also known as lacinato or dinosaur kale) but if you can’t find it, you can use curly kale.  The kale is paired with apples, which are in season this time of year, as well as dried cranberries, sunflower seeds and almonds.  The salad is topped off with shaved Piave, which is an Italian cheese that adds a nice salty bite.

Here's an easy, delicious smoothie recipe to get your day started. My Cherry Almond Smoothie is packed with flavor and nutrients. The base of this smoothie is made with almond milk, which gives it a nice nutty flavor. Almond milk has become particularly popular in recent years because it has a lot of great nutritional properties.  You can buy it at the store or make your own at home by soaking almonds in water overnight and then pureeing them.
